It is BEA time and I have jumped in a little late. Here is my intro :)
Please tell us a little bit about
yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into
blogging?
Hi everyone *waves*
My name is Alex (or Alexandria if
you are going to yell at me or sit me down for an UBER serious conversation), I
am a 22 year old lass from Scotland, who has been mistaken for a 15 year old several times in the
past year – no seriously I have been, I could have got a cheap theatre ticket
the last time I went to London because the ticket peep thought I was that old.
Moving swiftly on.
I have been blogging for *dashes
off to look at oldest post* 16 months. I began blogging as an outlet for my love
of books and also because a lot of…rubbish was going on at the time and I
needed something to take my mind off it. And guess what? Blogging about my love
of books worked a treat :)
What are you currently reading,
or what is your favourite book you have read so far in 2012?
Right now I am reading Book 2 in
the How to Train Your Dragon series by Cressida Cowell (How to Be a Pirate).
They are really funny, light reads :)
Oh, wow, my favourite book so far
of this year. Ummm… this is hurting my head. I think I would have to go with
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. It is the first Christie novel
that I picked up to SERIOUSLY read and not just flick through to see how it
compared to a TV adaptation and I LOVED it.
Tell us one non-book-related
thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
Hmmmm I write fanfiction on
fanfiction.net… Not sure if that has ever came up on the blog or not – I don’t
think it has.
So, yeah, I am a fanfic writer. I
wrote a re-telling of the first 3 X-men films with a Rogan (Wolverine and
Rogue) plot and several other bits and pieces.
What is your favorite feature on
your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?
I don’t really have anything
special to my blog. I have a weekly feature that will be starting in a month or
so but right now…zip. I did have a feature called Sad it is
Only a CD Cover... that ran for 20 weeks were I showcased a CD cover a week that I thought would make a smashing book cover. I had great fun with that. :)
Where do you see your blog in
five years?
Hopefully still around ;) I have
this fear of burning out and slowly fading from the world of blogging and I
would hate to do that as I love it so much. So yes, I would like to just still
be here. :)
Which is your favorite post that
you have written that you want everyone to read?
ALLL OF THEM!!!
Nah only kidding.
I was pretty proud of a rant I
had about parents in YA books :)
Reasons Why...Parents is the post :)
If you could eat dinner with any
author or character, who would it be and why?
Eeek I hate this kind of
question.
I would like to have dinner with
the Nac Mac Feegles aka the Wee Free Men from
Discworld. Because let’s face it, eating with a stranger is nerve-racking stuff
and I always end up making a mess when I am nervous but they would be making just as big a mess
as me so all would be good :)
What literary location would you
most like to visit? Why?
DISCWORLD!
(did you like how I didn’t even
have to think there*
Yip, Discworld would be a great
place to visit I think, loads of interesting countries to visit and people to
meet. It has got to be one of the most colourful worlds I have read about.
What is your favorite part about
the book blogging community? Is there anything that you would like to see
change in the coming years?
It is actually things like this.
Memes and events. Knowing that I can write down my thoughts and answers on a
subject and then find 1,2,3,400 others who are having the exact same
conversation. I get a kick out of having us all on the same page ;)
Things I would like to see
change? Hmm…*Starts bobbing head and playing imaginary drums singing* Peace,
Love and Understanding…Peace, Love and Understanding….
*curtain whooshes down across the
stage*
Toodles xx
Welcome to Armchair BEA! I love these events too... it is fun to think that there really are 400+ people out there TODAY answering these questions, and then going and reading other people's answers. AND WE ALL LOVE BOOKS!
ReplyDeleteHI there! Welcome to Armchair BEA! I think that it is awesome that you are in Scotland! I have always wanted to visit.
ReplyDeleteLisa
Welcome to Armchair BEA! I know what you mean about knowing there are a million other people talking about what you are - community events are so fun. I've been meaning to read those How to Train Your Dragon books, since they just look so fun.
ReplyDeleteI don't ever have people think I'm younger than I am. In fact, I always get mistaken for older. :(
ReplyDeleteOooo, a Logan Rogue thing could be fun!
People always think I'm younger too... it will be good when we're older, I think. In 20's? Meh.
ReplyDeleteOh I totally want to read the How To Train Your Dragon books... they seem so cute! I have the first audiobook which I basically bought because David Tennant narrates it. =b
Here's my post.
I get mistaken for being younger, too. I am okay with it, though, because I want it to last until I am way older. :)
ReplyDeleteWee Free Men is one of my FAVORITE Discworld books. I love them and I adore Tiffany Aching and the Grannys.
ReplyDeleteNever got into the fanfic stuff - but appreciate that looking young thing cause it goes away too soon. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating!
Here's my intro

Loved this interview! That was fun! :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice to meet you, Alex! :D
ReplyDeleteAwe, don't worry people think I'm younger than I am all the time. ;D I always think it's a good thing because when I'm old I'll look younger. ;D haha
Yay for Fanfiction! :D I love Fanfic! I have a profile on there, too. I've written a couple of things, but I'm more of a reader. :)
Thanks for sharing a bit of yourself with us, Alex! It's very nice to meet you!

My Armchair BEA Introductions Post
I would LOVE to visit Discworld! And having dinner with Vetinari would be my choice, but the Feegle are very... interesting creatures. It wouldn't so much be dinner with them there though. More just drinks. And more drinks.
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that you're in Scotland. I often get mistaken for being younger as well. It's interesting.
ReplyDeleteOoo, I love you idea about the cd covers. That's such an awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteWow, I think you are the first participant from Scotland that I've stumbled upon. I've been interested in Scotland since reading Outlander a few years ago. One of these days I'll get to visit.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying Armchair BEA as much as I am!
I haven't been mistaken for a youngster for a while, but have had people comment that my husband and I both look 15 in our wedding photo (we were 20). My husband has read a few of the Discworld books, but I haven't yet.
ReplyDeleteHave you also read some of Christies famous works too? My favorite from her is Death on the Nile, loved it. Reading her autobiography right now.
